Joey walked next to Nick as they headed towards her house. She had told him she would show him around Capeside. “So, what happened?” she asked. “What are you talking about?” he replied. “When you said, ‘Billy told me what happened’ What was that all about?” “It’s a long story.” “I’ll listen. I have all the time in the world.” “Well, back in New Jersey, they rarely get hit with hurricanes, so the principal of Wildwood Catholic decided to ignore the hurricane warning. She shouldn’t have. The storm hit full force and no one was prepared for it. Over 200 people died at the school alone. Kelly lost her boyfriend, Dan. They had been going out since 6th grade, after she decided she didn’t like me anymore,” Nick explained. “That’s horrible. Maybe I should talk to her,” Joey said, trying to be helpful. “Why?” “I lost my mom of cancer, so I know what it’s like to lose someone you love.”
