Heather awoke early the next morning. She glanced over at her clock and
realized it was about seven. As she got quietly out of the bed, she
noticed Dawson's arm was laying on her pillow where her head had been
resting. She reached over and brushed a lock of his blond hair out of his
face. He looks just like an angel, she thought to herself. She walked into
the bathroom and changed into her swimsuit.
This was just enough to wake Dawson out of his peaceful slumber. That was
a really weird dream, he thought. He replayed it in his mind. It started
when he was working on a film with Joey and then Joey turned into Heather.
She turned back into Joey and then back into Heather. What have I gotten
myself into, he wondered. He heard a door creek open and saw Heather
standing in the entrance to the bathroom.
"I hope I didn't wake you," Heather said. She was wearing a navy robe that
covered her swimsuit.
"No, not really," Dawson replied yawning.
"Well I was just going for a morning swim. Care to join me?" Heather
asked.
"I would but I don't have a suit," Dawson answered looking anxious.
"Oh my dad has tons of them. Let's go find one," Heather offered.
Heather showed Dawson into a room twice the size of Heather's. She showed
him the collection and she picked out a Calvin for him.
"That ought to fit. Come on," she said.
In a matter of seconds they were out by the pool. Heather untied her robe
to reveal a retro daisy print string bikini. Dawson had to admit that she
looked fabulous. He watched her as she took in each breath and as her
breasts heaved up and down with each inhale and exhale. Knock it off
Dawson, he thought to himself. You sound like one of those cheesy romance
novels. His thoughts were broken by a splash.
"So Dawson you comin' in or what?" Heather asked, her body completely
drenched.
Pacey awoke only minutes later. Boy was I beat, he thought. All that
partying must have really worn me out. He noticed that the bed was empty
and he figured that the two were out swimming. He contemplated whether or
not he'd join them and decided that he might as well. He wondered through
out the house and found a room that appeared to be the head of the house,
Steven Spielberg. He checked the bureau drawers for a suit and found one
along with some photos. He looked through them and what he saw astounded
him. Heather looked almost exactly like her mother in these pictures. He
also saw a young Spielberg dancing with what looked like Heather's mom.
The pictures towards the back seemed to be of family get-togethers.
Heather looked rather young in these and he saw that she was even that
beautiful as a child. He pulled on the trunks and put the pictures back in
the drawer. Pacey then made his way to the back door which led to the pool
house.
"Hey Pacey!" Dawson yelled.
"Yeah whatever!" Pacey said just before he dove in.
"How about a friendly little race?" Heather suggested.
"I don't see why not," Pacey answered while Dawson nodded in agreement.
"Alright then. On your mark, get set, GO!" Heather screamed just before
they all raced to the end of the pool.
Heather was first and Dawson coming in a far third with Pacey only beating
him by less than half an inch.
"Gosh Heather. Where did you learn how to swim like that?" Pacey asked.
"Varsity Swim Team. I was best in the region this year. I went to
Nationals last week. I placed third. That means I'm the alternate for
Worlds. I doubt if I'll go though," Heather explained.
"Wow that's great! Congratulations!" Dawson said.
"Thanks. But it's not that big of a deal. I mean you get used to all the
attention after awhile," Heather said as she shrugged. She did a flip and
swam towards the other side of the pool. Great. Here you go again Heather,
she thought. Your getting yourself hung up on him. Don't do it to
yourself, she scolded.
Dawson didn't know what to think now. She was modest and a terrific
athlete above everything else. I'm just going to have to talk with her and
see how she feels about me before I go jumping to any conclusions.
Pacey's mind was reeling. He realized that this new girl could be a
definite prospect for a girlfriend. Now what do I do? Being the town
loser, he didn't have a lot of experience with women, except for Tamara.
Heather broke the silence. "The sponsor of a discussion group I'm in is
going to be here any minute. I hope you guys don't mind but she'll be
setting up here by the pool. You won't have to worry about the members of
the group arriving yet because they won't be here until about ten. Of
course you're welcome to sit in on our meeting," she explained.
"Well...uh...what will you be discussing?" Dawson asked.
"Who knows. It usually varies from week to week and it's never on one
specific subject," Heather answered as the doorbell rang.
After a few seconds a woman appeared in the pool house door frame. Dawson
recognized the woman almost immediately and motioned for Pacey to turn
around. Pacey, of course, didn't pay any attention.
"Man Dawson. Leave me alone!" Pacey said agitated.
"No Pacey you REALLY need to see this," Dawson said adamantly.
"What is it...," Pacey's voice trailed off as he turned around to see
exactly what Dawson was talking about. "Ta...Tammy?" Pacey was speechless.
Here before him stood the very woman that had changed his life forever.
"Pacey Wi...Witter?" Ms. Jacobs was just as astounded as Pacey was.
"You guys know each other?" Heather said looking perplexed at the two.
Joey awoke the next morning with a pounding headache. She glanced over at
her clock and realized it was a little passed eight. Great I overslept,
she thought. I have to be at the Icehouse by nine. Now I won't have time
to talk with Dawson. Oh well I'll talk to him after I get off work. She
had a long talk with Bessie last night and it was decided that she take
the scholarship in New York. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. She
trudged out of the bed and into the shower.
Once at the Icehouse Joey wasn't really in a good mood. Bessie pulled her
aside.
"What is wrong with you Jo? You know you can tell me anything. Now what is
it?" Bessie asked.
"It's just that I didn't have a chance to see Dawson this morning. I
wanted to talk to him before I came to work," Joey answered quietly.
"Is that all?? Go. By all means just go," Bessie ordered. "Go before I
change my mind Jo."
"Thanks Bess," Joey said grinning. She took off her apron and headed
towards Dawson's house. She climbed up the ladder rehearsing what she was
going to say to him. As she stepped inside she noticed Dawson's bed was
already made and it looked like it hadn't even been slept in. He wasn't in
his room so she went downstairs to find his parents.
"Mr. Leery, have you seen Dawson?" Joey asked Dawson's dad.
"No Joey. He didn't come home last night so we just figured he was with
you or Pacey. Why?" Mr. Leery replied.
"I needed to talk to him about something very important. But I'll just
wait until he gets home to tell him," Joey said with a sigh.
"I'll tell him to call you when he gets in," Mr. Leery said smiling.
"Thanks Mr. Leery," Joey said with a grin.
Meanwhile in Boston...
"So Pacey and Ms. Jacobs were involved at one time?" Heather asked
confused.
"Basically yeah," Dawson replied.
"Wow. That's great. Almost like a Poison Ivy or The Graduate type thing,"
Heather said while Dawson looked at her confused. "Sorry. I relate
everything to movies. Part of the package, I guess. Ever seen either?"
"The Graduate yes. Poison Ivy no," Dawson replied sheepishly.
"Well it was about this girl, played by Drew Barrymore in her early teens,
who moved in with her best friend. She seduced her best friends dad and
had a vivid affair with him, killed her best friend's clueless mother, and
then her best friend killed her in the end. Not quite like the situation
on hand but it comes close. I, personally, don't find anything wrong with
dating older people as long as they aren't married. Marriage is a sacred
thing that should never be tampered with by others," Heather explained.
"I couldn't agree more. My mom had an affair with her co-anchor and it
tore up my parents marriage. Joey's dad ran around with different woman
every week while her mother lay dying from breast cancer. I swear no one
takes their vows serious anymore," Dawson said.
"Well my dad did. He was there every second through my mom's illness. He's
loyal to her now even though she's dead and in heaven. He hardly ever
dates because he says no one can ever compare to my mom. He tells me I
look like her more everyday. I guess I do and I couldn't ask for more. She
was the only one who called me by my real name AND the only one who could
ever get away with it," Heather said with a slight tear falling from her
eye.
"Well what's your real name?" Dawson asked inquisitively.
"Anastasia Amethyst Angel Adrienne Ariata Spielberg. Yeah I know it's a
mouthful and that's why I don't use it," Heather explained.
"It's lovely. But what I don't understand is why they call you Heather?"
Dawson inquired.
"Well that simple question requires a rather complicated answer. My
grandmother, whom I adored as a child, said I was looked just like an
angel from heaven. When I tried to say heaven it came out like Heather and
that's what I've been called ever since. Besides Anastasia is just way too
fancy for me," Heather revealed.
"I wouldn't want to be called Anastasia either. Does your dad call you
Heather?" Dawson asked casually.
"Actually he calls me a variety of different things. When we're out in
public he usually calls me Heather but when we're at home he calls me Ana
or Amy. But when we're on the set it's a different story. There he calls
me Ms. Spielberg or Ms. Heather. I know...I know it sounds really corny
but he'll soon be calling you Mr. Leery or Mr. Dawson so get used to it
now, " Heather said with a laugh.
"So what can I call you?" Dawson asked flirtatiously.
"You can call me whatever and whenever you want," Heather said inching
closer to Dawson.
Dawson felt this hidden passion grow inside of him until he couldn't stand
it anymore. He leaned closer to her and pressed his lips delicately onto
hers.
Heather was surprised at first but recovered nicely. She wrapped her arms
around Dawson's neck and kissed him back with all the passion she had.
Pacey came around the corner just as the two started kissing. At first he
was shocked and then he thought, go Dawson!!
Dawson broke the kiss off and sighed. It felt like it had lasted an
eternity and it felt like kissing an angel. He'd never felt this way
before. When he kissed Joey it was like an electric shock running through
him but when he kissed Heather is was like floating on the clouds in the
sky.
Heather decided to break the silence, "I better go shower and change. My
discussion group will be here soon." Heather untangled herself from Dawson
and got up to leave.
"Wait! We need to talk first," Dawson said with a grin.
"Alright then," she said sitting back down again.
"What I want to know is why a beautiful girl like you isn't taken?" Dawson
asked tentatively hoping that he wouldn't have to deal with these new
feelings arising for Spielberg's only daughter.
"It's really a long story and it's rather complicated," she said with a
sigh.
"I have all the time in the world," Dawson said taking her hand in his and
squeezing it.
"If you must know. I've had lots of boyfriends but not since about
sixmonths ago. I was involved with, what I thought to be, a really great
guy. Boy was I wrong. Toward the end my Sweet Sixteen party I didn't feel
very well. I had a pounding headache after a long day of filming and
partying. My party that night was much bigger than the one last night. All
sorts of celebrities were there along with all of my friends from school.
It was around one in the morning and I decided to turn in for the night. A
lot of people were still there including my current boyfriend. I had gone
into the bathroom to take a shower and change. After I emerged I found my
boyfriend waiting for me in my bed. I was wearing not much more than I
have on now and he told me it was time for my next present, him. Well I
wasn't too thrilled about this. I told him he needed to leave now. He
didn't and pulled me down on my bed. He told me that he had wanted this
for a long time and now seemed like the best time for both of us. I told
him I wasn't that type of girl and he knew it. I told him if he didn't
stop I was going to scream. He pulled out a knife and told me if I made
even the slightest bit of noise he was going to slit my throat. Luckily
for me Matt was standing down the hall and heard struggling going on in my
bedroom. He knew I went to lie down and he knew something must have been
up. Well my so called sweetheart was trying to undress me and trying to
keep a knife at my throat at the same time. Matt burst in the door just in
time because otherwise I would have been another statistic for rape.
That's about all I remember except that I just sat all bundled up in
Matt's arms for the rest of the night. And that's the reason I'm not
taken. Ever since then I'm afraid to even get close to a guy especially
one I like a lot," Heather explained with watery eyes looking away from
Dawson's fiery stare.
"Oh Heather I'm so sorry. I wouldn't wish that on anyone especially
someone as sweet and gentle as you," Dawson said sincerely.
Pacey was standing around the corner listening to the two's conversation.
He realized that Dawson cared for this girl quite a bit. He'll be spending
more than a year with her while Joey's off to New York. Maybe he did have
a chance with Joey after all.
"Thanks," Heather said shyly. "I really need to get ready though. If
you'll excuse me," Heather said getting up and walking towards her house.
"Sure..." Dawson said his voice trailing off. What am I going to do know??
Maybe if I talk to Pacey he'll have some sort of advice for me. Dawson got
up and walked around to the pool house where he met up with Pacey.
"Hey Pacey. How are things with you and Ms. Jacobs?" Dawson asked winking
at Pacey.
"Well it's Mrs. Charlie Conway (couldn't resist the pun) now. She's
officially married and has a child," Pacey said with a frown.
"Wow that's great for her!!"Dawson said excitedly.
"Yeah but there's just one small problem. With the date the child was born
there is a possibility that it's mine," Pacey said with a sigh.
"Oh," Dawson said shocked. "Well what do you do if it is yours?"
"I told her not to worry that it's probably not mine ‘cause we used
protection whenever we had sex so it's probably her husband's," Pacey
muttered.
"Well what can I say?" Dawson asked slowly.
"You can tell me that I'll eventually find a girl my own age that will
like me for who I am, like Tamara did," Pacey said with a sigh.
"Don't worry you will Pacey. It just takes time," Dawson said placing a
hand on Pacey's shoulder.
"Yeah it took you forever to finally realize your love for a certain
brunette we all know and love from down the creek and now your restless
and want someone new so you kiss the first girl in your line of vision,"
Pacey said angrily.
Heather walked out just as Pacey said those last words and she started to
cry. Not again, she thought. Why does this type of thing always happened
to me? She turned around and ran back into the house. She rushed into her
bathroom and grabbed a razor off the shelf. Look at yourself, she thought.
Look. You've made yourself into this so look. She didn't want to but when
she did she saw a mess. Her mascara had run and she looked absolutely
miserable. She dropped the razor and began to pray.
"Dear God in heaven please help me through my time of need. You got me
through this before and now I need your help again. I don't want to die
and please help me to overcome this desire. Although sometimes it seems
like a quick way out, I'll never be able to withhold your judgement on me
if I take my own life. My life is yours to guide and do with what you
will. I know you'll always be there when I need a guiding hand. Please
help me now before I do anything I'll regret. You know my needs and my
wants better than I Lord and I lift them up to you now. Comfort me and
guide me all the days of my life. In Jesus's precious and most holy name
Amen," Heather prayed aloud.
Dawson found her in her bathroom praying over the sink. He listened and
wondered what she was going to that was so drastic. He heard the words
"die" and "kill" and figured she was either going to slit her wrists or
take too many pills. He also said a silent prayer. Please let her talk to
me and let me explain this and keep her from doing herself any harm.
Heather turned to exit the bathroom and saw Dawson standing in her
doorway. "Please don't tell me this is deja-vu. Please just go away,"
Heather said sobbing.
"I need to talk with you and I want to explain some things," Dawson said
taking her hand and guiding her to the bed. "I want to tell you that what
Pacey said out there had no truth in it whatsoever. I also want you to
know that ever since I've been here I realized that I DO care for you a
great deal, more than I ever imagined or cared to admit to myself but I
do. I've come to know you as a person and I'd love to know more. I want
you to be honest with me, how do you feel about me?" Dawson said with a
compassionate look on his face.
"Dawson, you were the last person I saw before I went to sleep and the
first person I saw when I woke up this morning. Ever since I came down to
Capeside I had this enormous urge to call you and tell you how I felt when
I first gazed into your fiery passionate eyes. Your the first guy I felt
this way toward, EVER. I'd loved to know everything there is to know about
you and more. Dawson what I'm trying to say is that I think I'm starting
to fall in love with you. It's something I tried to keep from happening.
But love has this crazy way of showing up when you least expect it,"
Heather said wiping the tears out of her eyes and taking a deep breath
realizing what she had just said. "I know your probably thinking that how
can this be after only a few days and how do I know if this is real or
not. I don't know the answer to either of those questions and only time
will tell how things are going to turn out. Look I think that's what's
best for both of us right now is to take things slow and not to rush into
anything. Is that alright with you?"
"I couldn't agree more," Dawson said with a smile. He reached up and
brushed a tear out of Heather's eyes. "You know what Heather? From the
minute I saw you I knew you were Spielberg's daughter."
"Oh really. How's that?" Heather asked skeptically.
"You've got your father's eyes," Dawson said.
"Yeah that's what everyone keeps telling me," Heather smiled taking
Dawson's hand in hers. "Look I've got to get ready for this meeting so
unless you want to take a shower with me I would suggest you leaving," she
said sarcastically.
"I thought you said we were going to take things slow," Dawson said
cynically.
"Get out of here," Heather said with a laugh pushing Dawson out the door.
In Capeside...
Joey was heading over to Pacey's. She walked up to the porch and rang the
doorbell. Deputy Doug answered.
"Is Pacey or Dawson here?" Joey asked.
"No sorry I haven't seen the loser since yesterday. He's probably off
somewhere getting in trouble. Tell me if you see him though. Dad's real
pissed that he didn't come home last night," Doug answered.
"Oh. Well thanks anyway," Joey said as she turned to leave. Dawson's not
at Pacey's and Pacey's not at Dawson's so where are they?? They couldn't
be back in Boston could they?? That thought didn't leave Joey's mind. She
went back to work and told Bessie she didn't feel well.
"Joey are you sick still?" Bessie said looking concerned.
"I think so," Joey said trying to put on a sick look.
"I'll have Bodie drive you home. Did you find Dawson?" her sister asked
worried.
"No. He's not home. He...uh...went on an errand for his dad and won't be
back until later," Joey lied.
"Oh ok," Bessie said nodding.
Once home, Joey laid down in her bed and thought of her many years with
Dawson. She thought back to the day when her mom had died and how Dawson
was there for her. Then Jen came along and ruined it. Now Joey and Dawson
were together as a couple and Dawson gets sideswiped by another girl,
Heather, who just so happened to be Spielberg's daughter. This is just
great. Right when I get him another girl comes along and sweeps him off
his feet. That's when the tears began to fall. She couldn't keep it in any
longer. I'm going to New York whether he likes it or not. I'm going and
I'll get over him. I have to, she told herself.
