"Cut! That's a wrap. All right we'll meet back here in approximately an hour and a half. Heather I need to see you please," Mr. Spielberg's booming voice said. "Yeah Dad?" Heather asked eagerly. "Have all the flight arrangements been made?" he asked. "Yes Dad. The hotels have been booked and the beach houses rented. Your crew will be there by tonight. Is there anything else?" she asked rather dreadfully. "When's Dawson arriving?" the film legend asked. "I think in about three hours. Yes I'll go pick him up," she answered before her father had a chance to ask. She rolled her eyes and turned around to leave. "Sweetheart. Come here," her father said lovingly. "What now?" "I love you and your mother would have been proud," he said with tears in his eyes. "I know. But I think me writing half the script isn't really going to boost my confidence, especially with all these professionals around. I mean you tell them to help me and what they end up doing is rewriting it themselves," Heather said throwing her hands up in the air. The script dealt with her mother's life and death and was going to be shot in her mother's favorite vacation spot, the Bahamas. "Then we'll get rid of them," he stated matter-of-factly. "No, you don't need to do that either. Just tell them to lighten up a bit. Look if I'm supposed to go get Dawson then I better go before the traffic gets any worse," she said turning to go. "Fine. I'll see you later this evening then," he said before she left. Heather had been waiting for this day ever since she had last seen Dawson. She wanted to tell him everything that had happened ever since they had last talk on the phone. It had seemed that Dawson and Joey had broken up, not on her account she was told, but because they both didn't think that they could maintain a long-distance relationship. They would always be, though, best of friends. Heather hummed a song her mother had sang to her when she was little as she prepared to meet Dawson. IN CAPESIDE . . . The Leery's and the Potter's along with Pacey were all at the airport that night. Joey's plane left first and then Dawson's five minutes later. They both knew it was for the better that they had never REALLY gotten together but that they had special moments that only the two of them could ever share. However, there was still an awkward silence between the two, more so with Joey than with Dawson. "Joey I'm really gonna miss you," Bessie said hugging her sister. "Me too," Bodie piped up. "You be sure to tell me all the nice restaurants you go to while in New York ok?" "Of course Bodie," Joey said with a smile. "Hey Ice-Queen, I'll miss you. They'll be no one around for me to torment. What's a man to do?" Pacey said jokingly. "You can try not laying a teacher every five seconds for a start," Joey retorted but then she turned serious. "I'll miss you too, Pacey," she said wrapping him in a hug until she heard her flight being called. "I guess that's me. Well I said I wanted to get out of Capeside and here I go off to the Big Apple." "Wait Jo! Don't I deserve a goodbye too?" Dawson said a pitiful look coming over his face. "Goodbye Dawson," Joey said trying to hold back tears as he wrapped her in his arms. "I better be going though," she said as the final boarding call was being announced. She wiped the tears from her eyes and made her way towards the plane not even looking back. I'm going to do this, I have too, she thought. Dawson watched her go and it felt like a big piece inside of him was going too. He was really confused. Was Joey more or less? Was Heather just a crush or the real thing? He didn't know anymore. He wasn't sure if he wanted to know anymore. His thoughts were interrupted by his parent's voices. "Dawson, honey, I think that's your plane. We're gonna miss you," Mrs. Leery said with tears in her eyes. "Take care of yourself son," Mr. Leery said patting his son on the back. "Don't worry I will. Love you guys," Dawson said giving both his parents a big hug. "D-Man it just won't be the same here without you and Jo. I hope everything works out the way you've written it," Pacey said giving Dawson a knowing stare. "See ya Pacey," Dawson said exchanging "macho" sentiments with his best friend. "I guess I better be off. I'll write you!" he exclaimed before turning to board his plane. IN NEW YORK . . . Joey had just moved into her dorm and met her new roommate, Cloey. In Joey's opinion, she was everything Joey wasn't. She was a model, rich, beautiful, could sing like an angel, and could act like nothing Joey had ever seen. But yet she was down to earth and friendly. Joey definitely thought she could get along with her new roommate. She hoped that maybe they could become good friends over time. "Joey where do you want your stuff put?" Cloey's voice interrupted Joey's thoughts. "Um just over by my bed is fine. You know you really didn't have to do that," Joey said in reference to her roommate carrying her bags. "It's fine. I was glad to help. Look class starts at seven so if you want something to eat then we need to leave at five. If you need anything from the drugstore then tell me because I'm going right now," Cloey said all in one breath. "I'll just go with you. Besides I'd like to see some of New York before I go to class tonight," Joey said with a shrug. With that the two were off to see New York. The walked down Hudson St. to the local drugstore. Cloey grabbed what she needed, which only consisted of a toothbrush and some shampoo, and they left. They kept walking until they were in Tribeca. Joey spotted a local pizza place and the two girls decided to stop and get a slice. Joey ordered a pepperoni and Cloey a "Newman" (which consisted of no tomato sauce, white cheese, and various meat toppings). When Joey was finished, she glanced down at her watch and realized how late it had gotten. "I think we need to head back. Doesn't class start at seven?" Joey asked. "Yeah. Oh my gosh we really do need to get going," Cloey said collecting her things and heading out the door. They hailed a cab in no time at all and told the driver to step on it. They made it back with only seconds to spare. They walked into the huge building and quickly located their classroom. They had just sat down before the professor walked in. "Tonight class, we will be seeing a musical many of you are familiar with, Cats. Now I want you all to meet me at the Winter Garden Theater in one hour. That gives you plenty of time to change into theater clothes. Dismissed," the professor stated. "Wow Cats. My first Broadway show," Joey said with a smile. "Come on. We don't have much time to waste," Cloey said pulling her roommate. Back in the dorm room, Joey was going through all her things and realized everything she wanted to wear was either wrinkled or buried at the bottom of the many suitcases. So Cloey offered Joey a dress to wear. "Here, this ought to suit you well," Cloey said handing Joey the black crocheted dress. Since Joey and Cloey were about the same size and they looked remarkably similar, Joey slipped it on. It fit her perfectly. She thanked Cloey repeatedly for her generosity and she just shrugged. Once they were ready, they hailed a cab and rode to the theater. They barely arrived in time and when they sat down Joey was on the end. She didn't mind it much until the show started and the Jellicle Cats came out. As the music played and the cats pawed their way through the audience Joey thought she saw someone she knew, it was only out of the corner of her eye and she pushed it away as ridiculous. Joey wasn't really paying any attention to the show until Rum Tum Tugger came bouncing along and grabbed her out of her seat. She wasn't expecting this and she just went with the flow and danced around with him. When she sat down, she felt like someone was staring at her. She turned around and saw a familiar face staring into her eyes. It was Anderson. She quickly turned back around and concentrated on the show until intermission. Meanwhile . . . Dawson got off the plane and met Heather at the gate. She was dressed in a lilac business suit and looked glamourous. She had to fight her way through the crowds to get to him, but she did eventually. They were escorted by police to the car and finally made it out of the airport alive, thankfully. "So how have you been Dawson?" Heather asked intently. "All right, I guess. Just trying to finish up on schoolwork before leaving for a while. You?" Dawson replied. "Ok. My father's constant nagging has pretty much stopped and the persistent badgering of the co-writers has ceased. Overall I'd say I'm as best as I've ever been," she said with a smile. "When do we leave for the Bahamas?" he asked. "Tomorrow morning. You don't really have that much time here in Boston," she said grabbing her appointment book. "At eight we have a dinner with my father, nine-thirty a conference with the crew, ten a cocktail thing with the cast and crew, eleven my father wants to talk with you personally, and midnight is lights out. Tomorrow morning we rise at six and begin the day. Our flight leaves at nine and we need to be there by seven-thirty. Any questions?" Heather inquired. Yeah. Why am I here, he thought. "No not really," he said with a shrug. The limo pulled to a stop at one of Boston's finest restaurants, Teddy's. The two walked through the crowd of people and into the building. They were seated with Spielberg and they ordered. "So Dawson tell me something. What gave you a sudden interest in my daughter?" Steven said looking at his daughter sideways while Heather just rolled her eyes. "Dad!" she started. Dawson just sat there dumbfounded. "I don't know sir. She just kinda made a lasting impression on me that I could shake," Dawson told his idol. Heather smiled shyly. They were interrupted by the waiter approaching them. "Ms. Spielberg, you have a phone call," the waiter said. Heather quickly excused herself and took the call. Dawson watched her go and then became strangely aware of his surroundings. He smiled shyly and sipped his water. Finally Heather came back, but in tears. "Matt . . . Matt had an accident. He's in the . . . the hospital in Tokyo," she said sobbing. "There, there now sweetheart. Everything's going to be all right," Steven said comforting his daughter. Dawson just sat there not quite knowing what to do. He remembered what it felt like to hear someone who was close to you was injured, especially your best friend. He then realized something he'd never thought about before. Heather's voice, however, broke his pleasant memory. "I'm going to Tokyo," Heather stated still teary eyed. She remembered how Matt had been there for her in her time of need and she wanted to be there in his. Dawson nodded in agreement."You should," he told her reaching over and touching her hand. Steven smiled. "I'll book the earliest flight," he said flipping out his cell phone. And so it was done. Heather was off to Tokyo while Dawson was down in the Bahamas. While all this took place . . . Anderson came up to Joey at intermission. He wasn't quite sure why, but he did it anyway. "Hi," he said timidly. "Hi," Joey replied smiling that lopsided grin of hers. "So um how do you like New York so far?" he asked. "It's well it's a little overwhelming but a beautiful city," Joey replied. "Well I could show you more," Anderson suggested. "I don't know. We might have classes or something," Joey answered trying to make up an excuse. Cloey, who was standing nearby, had overheard this conversation. "You can go after the show. We don't have a curfew or anything," she input. "Well then I guess that settles it," Anderson said smiling. "ONE MINUTE," the usher called. "I better sit back down," Anderson said making his way back to his seat. "Yeah," Joey said sitting back down. "Thanks a lot Cloey." "Hey I was only trying to help," Cloey said innocently. "You know he is rather cute." "Yeah . . . " Joey admired her voice trailing. The second act started and Joey tried to focus on the show.
